I'm working on excel so i dont have the same settings but I highlighted column b based on duplicate names
User
08/06/2018 - 08:32
and I want column C to highlight the adjacent cell
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:33
Let me understand it. Column B is highlighted on the basis of duplicate names.
User
08/06/2018 - 08:33
yup
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:33
and you want the adjacent cell to be highlighted in Column C
User
08/06/2018 - 08:33
yup
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:33
is that correct.
User
08/06/2018 - 08:33
yes
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:34
Conditional formatting does not work on the formatting of other cells.
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:34
But their can be a work around
User
08/06/2018 - 08:35
Okay any ideas?
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:36
Give me a min, since the highlight of column B is based on Duplicate
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:37
It is little tricky. Give me a minute and I will check if we can do this in some other manner
User
08/06/2018 - 08:37
thank you so much
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:38
The way around is
Excelchat Expert

You have to add the filter to the data.
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:39
Do you know how to add filter?
User
08/06/2018 - 08:39
Yes
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:39
Please add filter to your data
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:40
then click on the small triangle next to the heading of the duplicate value cell - in this case Column B
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:41
Then sort by color - and select the color which you have for the duplicates.
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:41
not column B will show only Duplicate values
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:42
not select all the cells in column C and highlight them as per your requirement directly.
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:42
then remove the filter.
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:42
and it's done.
User
08/06/2018 - 08:42
How do you sort by color
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:43
Did you click on the small triangle next to the heading
User
08/06/2018 - 08:43
yup It say sort A-> Z or Z-> A
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:43
below that
Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:43
Sort by Color
User
08/06/2018 - 08:44
Oh I got it!
User
08/06/2018 - 08:44

Excelchat Expert
08/06/2018 - 08:44
