Welcome, Thanks for choosing Got-It Pro Excel. How may I help you today?
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:02
Based from your description, I will now be creating an example at the beside table.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:05
May I know if what kind of format do you prefer for the dates?
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:05
Do you want the format to be highlighting the lower dates?
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:08
Hello, as you can see in the table, I've done a simple formatting.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:08
Or simple conditional format rather.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:09
Let's say our target date is December 15, 2017 which is 12/15/2017
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:10
Correction, I've used December 10, 2017 in the example as target date.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:11
And as you can see the following dates that are earlier than Dec. 10 is highlighted as Red.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:12
This means that the format is recognizing dates that are lower or earlier than Dec. 10.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:12
Okay, so how to do the formatting?
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:13
First, I select all the cells that will be included in the formatting which is for example, A1 to A6.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:14
After selecting, I now click the "HOME" button at the selection bar above the excel sheet.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:15
After clicking "HOME", you will see in the middle part of the ribbon the button "Conditional Formatting." You should click that drop-down button.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:16
Once clicked, you will see another selection of formats. I just used the first one which is "Highlight Cell Rules."
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:16
After hovering or tapping that selection, you will now select "Less Than" option.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:16
Which is in line with your problem description.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:17
After clicking or tapping the "Less Than" option, a small window will appear.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:18
You will now enter the desired target date that will be the basis of the lower or earlier dates to be marked as you wish.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:19
For example, I've entered 12/10/2017 with a highlight of "Light Red Fill with Dark Red Text."
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:19
You can also explore other types of colors if you wish.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:20
After I've entered the date and selected the format of color you want it to be, you will now click "OK."
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:21
After that, it will automatically highlight all dates that are lower or earlier that you've entered.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:21
Like what happened in the example.
Excelchat Expert 18/12/2017 - 07:21
I hope this example helped your problem.
