I need a formula to compare two columns in order to find the same value in both columns

i need to set up a spreadsheet to compare vendor pricing on multiple items and if i am ordering that item to produce a shopping list for each vendor. even though the product description is the same the vendor item number would be different. what is important is for me to be able to download the vendor pricing spreadsheet and easily import it into my spreadsheet.
