I have a list of data with 6 digits followed by a dash and two letters (123456-AA) I want a conditional formatting that will color the cell if the first 6 digits match. I know how to use Left(cell #,6) to separate the digits. I also know how to format a regular full match. I just don't know how to combine them.

Really appreciate your help. I have unique IDs for each person, but there are multiple rows for certain people who obviously will have the same ID. How do I get the lookup values in the VLOOKUP to match the IDs with multiple occurrences. I believe I have to use an index/match function, but I'm not quite sure how to use it. I've attached an example.
