Hi there, I created a data validation drop down list with classes [year7, year8, year9] in one sheet. My source sheet has fields like regno, name, gender, nationality, religion, subjects and so on. Im unable to extract data from my source file if I click on the drop down menu. Sometimes, year 7 is only working and fetching the data. but if i click on year8 nothing happens. Could you help me on this. I used count, countif, vlookup, index, if.

Hi, I have two lists of Accounts that I need to consolidate. These lists come from two different sources and in a lot of cases the individual names are slightly different. Ie One list has 'AC Nielsen', the other one has 'Nielsen Media'. The best tool I have found so far is a partial Vlookup using "*"& either side of the look up value. however I found that this won't work for a couple of reasons: 1. "AC Nielsen" isn't going to match with "Nielsen Media" 2. If the look up value is "Browns", that might have several matches, however it will only bring back the first match which might not be correct. What is best practice here?

Hi I have an assignment which requires knowledge of data analysis using stat tools, what if and vlookup. I have no idea how to do that. I have a spreadsheet that requires me to analyse using those tools.

I want to use vlookup compare two columns and get a yes/no answer. If the conference of the two teams are the same, I need it to say yes. I have tried with several VLOOKUP and/or MATCH options, but I get too many arguments. An example is Row 3. I need F3 to display YES while others display no.

I am very familiar with index + match, vlookup, hlookup. I have a reference in not only multiple columns, but also multiple rows. E.g reference is "18153 1" is on source tab. This reference could be anywhere Production tab. If found in production tab I would like to return the value that is 3 cells below it. So in production tab, if "18153 1" is found in P82, I would like to return what is in P84 (the 3rd row down once found). However, it could also be found in T89 in which case I would want to return T91 (or any combination). I believe what is needed is some form of an index+match with an Hlookup, but can't figure it out.

Hi ! I am stuck... I have two columns of data : 1 is the Time (in seconds) 2 is a response from a practical test I have the maximum the second column can reach but would need to find at which time it reaches 90%. To do so I have calculated the approximate value 0.9*MAX(Column 2) and tried to use VLOOKUP and IF formulas to find the corresponding time but it doesn't display the right answer.

This file has a Vlookup function to auto-fill columns J and K (In the Proces sheet) depending on the choice of Machine in column I. In the "Proces" sheet, I will input data one row at a time. I need the formulas that are in the K column to only do the math for the row they are in at the time. For example, if I input a set of data on row A2 and select Machine 1, I would like the corresponding formula for Machine 1 (which can be found in the Misc sheet) to be applied to just that row. If I input another set of data on row A3 and select Machine 2, then I would like the corresponding formula to be applied to just that row.
