I have two columns of figures, each one totalled. All I wish to do is subtract one total from the other. This should simplicity itself. However, the formula (a simple =D45-D62) cannot recognise the latter cell and gives me a false result. I just cannot understand why. Can you help?

I have an excel report comparing the % change between a prior year and the current year.
When I put in an actual figure in the prior year and "0" for the current year, it will give me a percentage change. However, if I have a "0" figure for the prior year and an actual figure for the current year, it will not give me a percentage change. It just shows #DIV/0!. What formula would I use to show an actual percentage change in either case? Right now my formula is =(C4-B4)/B4
