question #5: In cell B18, create a formula using nested IF functions and VLOOKUP functions to determine what to do with the returns. Use the lookup table in the Return Data worksheet. Refer to Figure 8-46 for some hints on how to create the formula.

I used this a little earlier today and an expert used the following formula to solve my issue. Still not sure exactly how to utilize it in my excel. The formula is as follows: =if(Schedule_PREDICTIONS!F5=Schedule_PREDICTIONS!G5,VLOOKUP(VLOOKUP(Schedule_PREDICTIONS!A5,'POINTS SHEET'!$A$4:$F$44,6,TRUE),'POINTS SHEET'!H$4:$J$6,3,FALSE),0) I need to know how to implement this. We were cut off before he could describe the process. The idea for the bowl game schedule. Each player selects the winner. If the winner matches the prediction from the player the player gets points. The point system is tiered, 1 point for certain games, 2 for others, and lastly three.

I am trying to get a value for a building material that comes in rolls and covers about 135 square feet. I want to get the number of rolls to do any job between 0 and 5000 square feet - 135 square feet at a time but with an input value anywhere in between. This would mean an enormously long column in a vlookup table or hundreds of IF functions. Is the a better way? This is a part of some building contractor spreadsheets I am putting together and I am hesitant to send out something I have worked for weeks on.

Advanced Excel function: index vlookup, if then I have a two tab worksheet. Tab one contains two columns, first and last name, the second tab contains first, last name, and a total. I have tried to use a concatenate function to compare, however it failed. I need to compare the name and place a total on tab one if it is a match. Vlookup works, but if the first name is incorrect that proves a challenge.

In this problem, you must first complete the Sales table below by entering equations in cells C22, E22, F22, and G22 that can be copied and pasted down for each sales transaction. This will require the use of the vlookup function to find the price and the discount. The net column should be calculated as Total * (1 - Discount)... Next you will need to fill in the totals for the green shaded cells at the bottom of the table. Once you have completed those tasks, the goal is to create a formula in cell D18 that will use the sumif formula to add up the net amount of sales to a particular customer... If the customer filter is blank (which can be tested in the if function by using B15 = "") then your formula should sum up the net amount of sales that satisfy the relationship specified by the Net Amount filter and the operator... For example, you may want to see what the sum is for transactions with a net amount in excess of $3,000. In that case you would type $3,000 in cell E15 and select the symbol > from the drop down box that I have already created for you in cell E16. If both filters are blank, then the cell D18 should just return the sum of the net column. To reiterate, your formula should first check to see if cell B15 is blank, if it is not, cell D18 should return the sum of all transactions for the customer ID listed in cell B15. If cell B15 is blank then your formula should check to see if cell E15 is blank, if it is not, your formula should sum up all transaction based on the amount listed cell E15 and the operator in cell E16. Finally if both Filters are blank, then the formula in cell D18 should just return the sum of the net column. To accomplish this task, you will need to use the IF function and the SUMIF function as well as one of the two methods of concatenation to fill in the cell D18.
