A 555-mile, 5-hour plane trip was flown at two speeds. For the first part of the trip, the average speed was 105 mph. Then the tailwind picked up, and the remainder of the trip was flown at an average speed of 115 mph. For how long did the plane fly at each speed?

I contacted you yesterdaya bout how to use the =AVERAGE function, and for real numbers it works fine, but I tried to get the expert to explain to me how to use the =AVERAGE function when the cells have formulas in them that generate '0' value, so the AVERAGE function would ignore these cells in the averaging method, but got no answer. So, I need to know how use the =AVERAGE function so that when there are formulas in the selected cells to average, that EXCEL would ignore those cells like they have real numbers in them, which seems to work fine. Please advise...

Hello, I have an excel data where I update one row (with multiple columns) each week. During plotting, I go back every n weeks (n rows) to generate average plot of each of these columns. It is difficult to manually choose n rows everytime I update a new row. Is there a way to automate this so that once I update a new row, a plot is automatically generated going back n rows from this new row? Thanks!

So i'm taking the average of a range of 30 cells from another sheet. For example, My formula in Sheet 2 is =average(Sheet1!B5:B35) and when I drag that formula down one cell I get =average(Sheet1!B6:B36) but I want it to do =average(Sheet1!B36:B65).

On the Grade Average worksheet, select G7 and type "Average." In cell G8, use a formula to generate the average of the contents in Cells B8:F8. Use the fill handle to populate your results through G10. The syntax for the Excel Average function is the following: AVERAGE(argument1, [argument2],...). Arguments can be numbers, named ranges, cell references that contain numbers, or arrays. Select Cell A12, and enter "Class Average." Use a formula to generate the average of IP Assignment 1 in cell B12. Use the fill across handle to populate your results of averaging the other assignments to F12

I have a fuels calibration table previously done in Excel. The process is to dip a long ruler into the top of the tank, hit the bottom and pull it out. The level of the fuel is then read from the spreadsheet. The current spreadsheet is broken into 1/8" increments and I must now break it down further into 1/16" increments. I am aware that Excel is not friendly to feet and inches and I have a work around. The problem is when I try to take the number of gallons from the previous sheet and populate my new sheet. The numbers go into the cells fine and I even have a formula to take the average between the two. The problem, is that with the previous worksheet in 1/8's and the new one in 1/16's I cannot figure out how to make the cells search for their data relatively on the smaller spread sheet. Any ideas?
