Excelchat Expert

So for example, you want to check for a value in A1, if no value, then B1, if no value then C1, if no value then return a blank?

Excelchat Expert

If there is value, should we return the value in that cell?

User
12/08/2017 - 08:00

yes and if in a1 has value that is the answer, if it is blank b1 and if bi has value that is the answer then c1 . and if aband c is blank blank

User
12/08/2017 - 08:02

User
12/08/2017 - 08:02

i am goping to try

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:02

OK, its a minor modification, let me do it

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:03

For illustration purposes, I will put the values in cells A1 of sheets S1, S2 and S3

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:05

Can you see the updated example?

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:05

You can change values in cells A1 of sheets S1, S2 and S3

User
12/08/2017 - 08:06

i tried but the second cell value coming up instead the 1st cell if the 1st cel has value that should show

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:06

Did you see what I did?

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:07

cell A1 of sheet S1 has value 10

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:07

cell A2 of sheet S2 has value of 20

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:07

Sorry cell A1 of sheet S2 has a value of 20

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:08

cell A1 of sheet S3 has a value of 30

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:09

Now if I delete value of cell A1 in Sheet S1, you see the results in cell A3 of Sheet1 changes to S2 cell A1 value

Do you understand the nesting of if functions?

User
12/08/2017 - 08:09

a bit

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:09

the formula is like this

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:10

=IF(test1,values if true, value if false)

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:10

in place of "value if false, we put another IF test

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:11

=IF(test1,value if true,IF(test2,value if true, value if false))

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:11

and we keep going like that

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:11

Do you know how to reference cells in different sheets?

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:12

To reference cell A1 in Sheet5 for example, its

User
12/08/2017 - 08:12

=IF('FSM Night'!F7<>"",'FSM Night'!F7,IF('FSM Afternoon'!F7<>"",'FSM Afternoon'!F7,IF('FSM Day'!F7<>"",'FSM Day'!F7,"")))

Excelchat Expert
12/08/2017 - 08:12

Good

User
