Question description:
This user has given permission to use the problem statement for this blog.

I want my chart to disappear and reappear data on the Y-axis depending on whether there is data entered. For instance, I'm running a chart that has data for Jan-Dec that I want to update every month, but I don't want all months to appear if I haven't updated that month yet

Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:03
checking on it now
User 13/09/2018 - 06:03
I'm looking at the chart labeled "Certifications by Hire Date Up to Current Month"
User 13/09/2018 - 06:04
You can see I don't have data for Aug-Dec, so I want the chart to automatically hide that
User 13/09/2018 - 06:04
But when I add to it next month, I don't want to have to make adjustments, I just want it to show up if there's data there
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:05
yes im seeing it now
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:06
so you wnt here is not to show the month that was no data right?
User 13/09/2018 - 06:06
correct
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:06
ok
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:07
on the certification chart?
User 13/09/2018 - 06:07
Yes, on both the Certification and the Application by Month, but as long as I know how to apply it to one, I can apply it to the other
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:08
ok, just give me a minute to work on this
User 13/09/2018 - 06:08
Ok thanks
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:11
can you check this one

Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:12
i made a formula on your table
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:13
so if the value was 0 or none, the hire dates will be blank, so it will now show also on your chart
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:14
hello are you still there?
User 13/09/2018 - 06:14
But I'm still seeing the months of August - December show on the chart though
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:15
oh i see, i made fist on the first 2 charts
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:15
on the above
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:15
first*
User 13/09/2018 - 06:16
Oh ok, yeah I want it actually on the bottom 2 because those are by month
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:16
ok im working on it now
User 13/09/2018 - 06:19
I see what you did there though, and it can be applied to the months, I just tested it out, the only issue I have is that there is still a bunch of space still left on the chart, that's why I was hoping this could be some sort of chart setting instead of formula
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:19
yes im donw on it
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:19
done*
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:19

still though the only issue I have is that there is still a bunch of space still left on the chart, that's why I was hoping this could be some sort of chart setting instead of formula
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:23
our chart is on the table, there's no way to remove those month on the chart
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:23
only the way we do
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:24
unless we do revise our table
User 13/09/2018 - 06:25
ok, that's what I was afraid of, this is the 2nd best option though thanks!
Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:25

Excelchat Expert 13/09/2018 - 06:25
