Hi there!

I believe we can use formula based conditional formatting to solve this for you. Are you using Excel or Google Sheets?
User
20/08/2018 - 06:45
Google sheets
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:45
Ok perfect
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:45
Have you ever used conditional formatting before?
User
20/08/2018 - 06:45
no

Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:46
Ok excellent
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:46
I will set it up in cell AK141 just like your example
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:47
S141 rather
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:47
So in AK141... what type of value will be entered? a number?
User
20/08/2018 - 06:47
a dollar amount
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:48
so if there is ANY amount or value in cell AK141, then turn S141 a color?
User
20/08/2018 - 06:48
correct
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:48

Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:48

Conditional Formatting
User
20/08/2018 - 06:49
ok
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:49
Format cells if:
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:49
custom formula (at the bottom)
User
20/08/2018 - 06:49
ok
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:50
Sorry let me try something else
User
20/08/2018 - 06:50
ok
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:51
=Len(AK141)>0
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:51
thats the custom formula
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:52
So if you type any value in AK141, then S141 will turn whatever color you select.
User
20/08/2018 - 06:52
thank you so much!!!
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 06:52

20/08/2018 - 06:52

I have another question
User
20/08/2018 - 07:02
how do i copy that formula to the next row and have it change the row number
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 07:03
You can just drag the cell down just like you drag a formula down
User
20/08/2018 - 07:03
but it still says 141
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 07:03
And the formatting will dynamically update to the row
User
20/08/2018 - 07:03
it doesn't change it to 142...etc
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 07:03
Yep thats ok
Excelchat Expert
20/08/2018 - 07:04
