Question description:

Hello, I obtained an .xls file that I need to do work on and at least one tab that I am working on finishes in column IA. Other tabs finish in column IV, which is the higher limit to the right for .xls files. I have converted it to .xlsx and the above did not change. How can I view up to column IV at least for the tab that goes up to IA? Thanks in advance. Demetrios

Can you share a screenshot of the worksheet ending in IA?
User 10/08/2018 - 02:10
Sure
User 10/08/2018 - 02:11
one second
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:11
Okay.
User 10/08/2018 - 02:11
This one. I created a new tab and it ended in col. IA, while other tabs ended in cols IV. I changed it to .xlsx and it still shows IA

Can you try pressing Ctrl+ right arrow key on your key board?
User 10/08/2018 - 02:12
Yep, it doesn't proceed further
User 10/08/2018 - 02:13
still ends there
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:13
Okay hold on.
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:13
What excel version are you using?
User 10/08/2018 - 02:14
Latest one
User 10/08/2018 - 02:14
the paid subscription
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:14
So 2016 yes?
User 10/08/2018 - 02:15
Thanks. Also, from the VBA window, I can't put a bigger range. See next screenshot. When I type in anything after IA, it changes back

User 10/08/2018 - 02:15
Well, if it's not 2016, it is at least 2010
User 10/08/2018 - 02:15
It's the paid subscription, so I guess it's 2016
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:16
Alright. Hmm, have you tried manually inserting columns?
User 10/08/2018 - 02:16
I tried copy-pasting some columns and it gives an error as it can't go further
User 10/08/2018 - 02:16
Creating a blank file and pasting all tabs there would be troublesome as there are so many
User 10/08/2018 - 02:17
but I think then the only solution is that, and to do it by VBA
User 10/08/2018 - 02:17
Unless it's some setting in Excel which evades my current knowledge...
User 10/08/2018 - 02:18
Any other options?
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:20
What is the error it's giving?
User 10/08/2018 - 02:21
I don't remember, but lol, I can't even select columns for copying now
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:22
That's strange. As in all of my sheets I'm able to see up to column XFD

User 10/08/2018 - 02:22
Actually, I just reopened it and, halleluja, it shows many more columns to the right
User 10/08/2018 - 02:23
Very strange bug.... But it's solved on its own
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:23
Oh, then it's probably because of the existing excel files open.
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:23
Exactly. Which is great for us!
User 10/08/2018 - 02:23
No, it's the only one I had open
User 10/08/2018 - 02:23
Anyway, many thanks for being there.
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:23
I am glad to be of help.

User 10/08/2018 - 02:24
My suggestion would be to copy the whole workbook by VBA, if anyone asks the same
User 10/08/2018 - 02:24
tab by tab
User 10/08/2018 - 02:24
If it doesn't solve itself automatically
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:24
That would be true but we don't support VBA as of yet.
User 10/08/2018 - 02:24
OH, ok
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:25
So we're limited to spreadsheets really.
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:25
But yes, that's one of the best options.
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:25
In any case. Looking forward to helping you again for your spreadsheet needs!
Excelchat Expert 10/08/2018 - 02:25
Have a great day!
User 10/08/2018 - 02:25
Thanks. Thanks again!
