Excel - How to Use Conditional Formatting With IF Statement - Expert Solution

Question description:
This user has given permission to use the problem statement for this blog.

I have data importing from a program, and I want to use the Conditional Formatting Tool to set up a rule to highlight any given values that do not fit the requirements. I was wondering if there's a way to set up an excel page that has these rules set up, so when the data is imported, it automatically will be highlighted if the rule is commanded. I only have been able to import data onto another sheet, and had to set the rules up after the data is imported.

ok checking first on it
User 02/08/2018 - 05:49
ok
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 05:53
which one here you want to have a conditional formating?
User 02/08/2018 - 05:53
I want to set a rule for each individual column. For example, if row 1 has any temperatures that were imported to be above 71.50, i'd want the cell block to be highlighted red
User 02/08/2018 - 05:54
I know how to do that, I just do not know how to import data onto a sheet that already has the rules so it does it automatically
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 05:55
ok
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 05:56
does this file already have a conditional formatting?
User 02/08/2018 - 05:56
It does not
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 05:56
but you know how to put the conditional formatting?
User 02/08/2018 - 05:56
Yes sir
User 02/08/2018 - 05:57
I just want it to be conditionally formatted on a sheet before the data is imported onto the sheet, do you know what I mean?
User 02/08/2018 - 05:58
It won't let me import it onto a sheet that is already conditionally formatted, it just creates another sheet of the data and I would have to create the conditional formatting again
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 05:59
ok
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 05:59
if you have already a conditional formatting
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 06:00
you can import your data there by using the paste special
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 06:00
instead of importing just copy it, then paste your data on the template that has already conditional formatting
User 02/08/2018 - 06:00
Okay that was my other idea, I just did not know if there was a different way
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 06:00
then click ctrl+alt=V
Excelchat Expert 02/08/2018 - 06:01
that's the only way for this
User 02/08/2018 - 06:01
Alright awesome thank you for your help
