Hi
User 01/08/2018 - 08:10
Hi
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:10
If I understand your problem correctly, you have a dataset from which you want to create a sunburst chart
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:10
Is that correct?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:11
Yes
User 01/08/2018 - 08:11
But I need the second layer to cover multiple items on the first layer
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:11
First, can you share the dataset?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:11
See it?
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:12
Here, what should be the first layer and what should be second layer?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:12
Column 1 firstlayer
User 01/08/2018 - 08:12
Column 3 second layer
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:13
And what about column 2?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:13
There is no column 2
User 01/08/2018 - 08:13
They are names
User 01/08/2018 - 08:13
*named
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:13
Ok, so what about blank rows?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:14
C3 applies to B3 and B4
User 01/08/2018 - 08:15
Make sense or no?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:15
401(k) is ordinary income and cash is also ordinary income
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:15
Got it
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:15
Give me some time
User 01/08/2018 - 08:26
What happens when our timer runs out?
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:26
Hey, you will get an option to extend it
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:26
please do so
User 01/08/2018 - 08:27
Done
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:28
Awesome
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:28
Please see if this is what you want

I took liberty to use 100k instead of 1M in one of the rows. You can change the value to whatever you want :)
User 01/08/2018 - 08:29
It's good, but it's reversed.
User 01/08/2018 - 08:29
I want 401k and cash and NQ and real estate in the center
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:34
Hey, I have double checked and made sure that it is not possible. The inner values will always be the bigger ones and the partition in the outer rings.
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:34
If you want what you are suggesting some other techonlogies like D3 should be useful
User 01/08/2018 - 08:34
That makes no sense
User 01/08/2018 - 08:34
D3?
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:35
Yes, if you interchange your columns it doesn't make sense
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:35
Since ordinary is bifurcated to 401(k) and Cash
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:36
D3 is javascript based visual tool
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:36
Yes, that's the limitation of excel
User 01/08/2018 - 08:36
Why can't ordinary be a second layer that covers both 401k and cash?
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:36
That is the limitation of Excel
User 01/08/2018 - 08:36
Bummer
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:37
haha yes. Though excel has incorporated new charts, the capabilities are still not full on
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:38
Why would you want them specifically in the second layer?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:38
That's the order of the conversation I have with my clients
User 01/08/2018 - 08:38
:)
User 01/08/2018 - 08:38
I can make it work though
User 01/08/2018 - 08:38
Thank you!
User 01/08/2018 - 08:39
Do you know if it's possible to add a center circle with text?
User 01/08/2018 - 08:39
From the table
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:39
I would rather add a Circle shape in between to achieve that. It is not technically possible
User 01/08/2018 - 08:40
Gotcha, thanks
User 01/08/2018 - 08:40
I think we are done
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:40
I hope I was helpful
User 01/08/2018 - 08:40
Very
Excelchat Expert 01/08/2018 - 08:40
Have a great day :D
User 01/08/2018 - 08:40
