Excel - IF Function Problem - Expert Solution

Question description:
This user has given permission to use the problem statement for this blog.

I need a formula to combine two separate reports and add them together to match up certain common criteria. I would like to make a third sheet using the matched up unit numbers and amounts from both reports and label them appropriately with the deposit number from sheet 2, and if possible add the deposit date from sheet 2 as well.

I have two separate reports that are grouped differently the only common factor are amounts and unit numbers but I dont know how to create a new report or combine the two to be grouped together so they match up
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:44
Can I see the reports, it would help me understand more accurately and provide better solution
User 13/07/2018 - 07:45
ok there they are
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:45
Yes
User 13/07/2018 - 07:46
if at all possible i would like the out come to also match up the deposit number from report 2
User 13/07/2018 - 07:46
can you see the reports?
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:47
i can see only one report in sheet 1
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:47
sheet 2 for me is blank
User 13/07/2018 - 07:47
i added it in
User 13/07/2018 - 07:47
i dont know why its not showing
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:48
Now its showing
User 13/07/2018 - 07:48
i will try and figure it out, but i am looking to match unit numbers and amounts and be grouped by deposit number from sheet 2
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:49
So based on units, amount and date you want to combine the data
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:49
Is my understanding correct about the problem?
User 13/07/2018 - 07:50
yes but not the dates, the dates will not alway match
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:50
okay
User 13/07/2018 - 07:50
I am looking to match up units and amounts and then group the whole thing by deposit number on sheet 2
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:51
So, if i can get deposit# in the sheet 1 (separate column) will that work
User 13/07/2018 - 07:52
yes i suppose
User 13/07/2018 - 07:52
as long as the correct deposit number gets added to sheet one, the reports have a lot of different information, not all entries are the same
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:54
give me few minutes while I work on it
User 13/07/2018 - 07:54
thank you
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:59
Also, is it possible that not all values in sheet 1 are found in the sheet 2?
User 13/07/2018 - 07:59
correct
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 07:59
Here it is

Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 08:00

Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 08:00
Have a look
User 13/07/2018 - 08:01
It looks like what I need but wont know for sure until I start ticking and tying out these items. Is there a way for me to now organize them by deposit number?
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 08:02
Yes, sorting
Excelchat Expert 13/07/2018 - 08:06
