Hello, I understand that you would like to see the earning potential when buying the top 10 products of your data, right?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:20
correct
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:20
Alright, I can help you with this. Before we proceed, this is a reminder that our policy is 1 question per session so for this session we'll be resolving this particular question. We also currently do not support VBA/Macro solutions.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:20
Are you able to share your file so I can analyze it?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:21
not at the moment. I don't have it in this device
User 28/06/2018 - 05:21
is it possible to obtain a formula
User 28/06/2018 - 05:21
?
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:22
It is but it highly depends on how your data is formatted. What fields are available, what data types among many other things.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:22
If you could provide an accurate sample using the document to the right then I'll be able to analyze it and figure out the best way to solve it.
User 28/06/2018 - 05:22
I see, I can explain how it is distributed if that helps
User 28/06/2018 - 05:23
sure , let me input some data in there
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:24
Are you still with me?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:25
yes
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:25
I don't mean to rush you but we have a very limited amount of time to solve this so if we want to have a formula for this before the timer expires, we have to act soon.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:26
I can see that you are typing a sample data, please go on.
User 28/06/2018 - 05:28
THI IS MORE OR LESS HOW THE DATA IS SET UP
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:28
I see empty cells at the bottom of column B and C, is that intentional?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:28
no
User 28/06/2018 - 05:28
just made up data
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:28
I'm going to delete the stores without any data.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:29
Okay, first question. How do you know which are the top 10?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:29
well, some stores do not buy all materials
User 28/06/2018 - 05:29
so some empty cells might happen
User 28/06/2018 - 05:29
for value
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:30
Okay. How do you know which are the top 10 stores?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:30
based on the value, i take the highest value
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:30
Will stores be listed multiple times?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:30
yes
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:31
Okay, next question, how do you determine the earning potential?
User 28/06/2018 - 05:32
that's exactly what I want o know,.. I want to asses the top 10 products, and see which store is not buying all the top 10 .. so let's say they 7 out of the 10, so how much can they earn with the 3 products they do not buy
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:33
I'm sorry I'm a bit lost.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:33
"which store is not buying all the top 10"
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:33
I thought it's the stores that you are getting the top 10.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:34
I also need to know how you calculate earning potential so I can transform it to a valid Excel formula.
User 28/06/2018 - 05:34
no, it;s from the ones that do not buy all the 10 products that are porforming well
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:34
You are the only one who can provide that since you are the one who knows how this business works.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:35
Can you give me an example of the output you expect?
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:35
If you can provide an example of the output then I can transform it to a valid Excel formula that automatically calculates it.
User 28/06/2018 - 05:36
well, it's quite long to explain and i don't have the file with me.. I see only 4 minutes remain so wouldn't have time for all that explanation
User 28/06/2018 - 05:36
thanks anyway for your time
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:36
The time can be extended if you are willing.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:36
But if not, I'd suggest that you post your question to us again once you have the actual file and an explanation prepared.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:37
For the meantime, I'll be marking this session as done and noting that we weren't able to come up with a solution because you are not able to fully explain what you need and you don't have the file with you.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:37
If you could provide an explanation then I'll be able to generate a formula for you, but without an explanation, I can't even begin. I hope you understand.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:39
We have less than a minute remaining and you were not able to extend the session. Since you can't provide an explanation as to what you can do, we can't expect a solution to be given.
Excelchat Expert 28/06/2018 - 05:39
Since you can't provide an explanation as to what you need, we can't expect a solution to be given.*
