What we can do is create a formula that will check the charater immediately following the (.

If the character immediately following the ( is a - sign then it means that the value inside the () is a negative number.

In this file you will see 2 sheets.
Excelchat Expert
26/06/2018 - 11:29
The first sheet will have the conditional formatting applied.
Excelchat Expert
26/06/2018 - 11:29
The second sheet, named Instructions, will have the steps on how I accomplished it.
User
26/06/2018 - 11:29

Excelchat Expert

Now, since you want to apply the conditional formatting yourself, if you encounter problems doing so, I won't be able to pinpoint where it goes wrong. You just have to follow the instructions to the letter.
User
26/06/2018 - 11:30

Excelchat Expert
26/06/2018 - 11:30
