User 19/06/2018 - 07:06
I want to delete everything in between ( and ) in the column
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:06
Do you mean from column C?
User 19/06/2018 - 07:06
yes
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:07
And does ( this occur just once in the entire string?
User 19/06/2018 - 07:07
yes
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:08
And looks like it always is at the end of the string
User 19/06/2018 - 07:08
correct
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:09
We can do it in 2 ways
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:09
One is without formula, just using Text to column
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:09
Are you familiar with this function?
User 19/06/2018 - 07:09
No.
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:10
ok..let me take you through that
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:10
As you can see I have just copied column C to Column G to manipulate the data
User 19/06/2018 - 07:11
yes
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:12
Now click on column G
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:12
From the main menu, select Data > Split text to column.
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:12
This will prompt you to select the delimiter, Here you can choose custom and type (
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:13
This will split your data and leave only the string before ( in column G
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:13
But I see there is a { also in C8
Excelchat Expert 19/06/2018 - 07:13
So its not consistent
User 19/06/2018 - 07:14
I don't see that opyion under the data tab.. the { can stay
