Thank you.
User 07/06/2018 - 08:54
I need a formula like that
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 08:54
I'm not sure what the formula is doing.
User 07/06/2018 - 08:54
I have this data to compare and it is sometimes the same in my columns and sometimes different
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 08:54
It would be better if you can show me some sample data along with the expected result.
User 07/06/2018 - 08:55
Basically I need it to compare about 700 rows of data like that and tell me what the difference was
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 08:57
If I understand it correctly, you need a formula to identify the different words in both cells, right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
User 07/06/2018 - 08:58
I need it to compare cell a to cell b and then identify the different words in column c
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 08:59
I see, now I can tell what you need.
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:00
Unfortunately, I'm sorry to day, although with formula we can tell whether the two sentences are identical or not, with formula it is not possible to extract the mismatched words.
User 07/06/2018 - 09:01
Okay, can you tell me what formula I need to see if the two sentances are idendical?
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:02
Sure, we can use the MATCH function.
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:02
Or, a logical check would be sufficient too.
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:02
I'm showing both.
User 07/06/2018 - 09:03
Okay but I need it for multiple rows
User 07/06/2018 - 09:03
About 700 rows to be exact
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:04
You can copy the formula for other rows too.
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:05
For logical test =A2=B2, TRUE means the cell values are identical. FALSE means there is/are difference.
User 07/06/2018 - 09:05
Okay great I will try both and see if I can make it work.
Excelchat Expert 07/06/2018 - 09:06
Sure.
User 07/06/2018 - 09:08
Thanks! Got it!
