Excel - IF Function Problem - Expert Solution

Question description:
This user has given permission to use the problem statement for this blog.

I have a list of projects where each row is for a unique project tracking progress and eventual order. I want to summarize it by division (ex. total reports by division) and then show a "view" of completed reports vs in progress reports. for the completed I want to show the if it's still in review or if there is a final order. Stakeholders want to see both the summary and the view. Is there an easy way to do this?

Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:38
How are you and how may i assist you with today?
User 31/05/2018 - 05:39
HI - can you see the sheet I am populating
User 31/05/2018 - 05:39
have you read my question?
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:39
Yep, please go ahead
User 31/05/2018 - 05:39
so I'm trying to find a way to create that report
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:41
Can you be more specific as how we need to create this?
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:41
Like is there any raw data available for this or any calculations to be performed?
User 31/05/2018 - 05:42
that's the thing, it's not a calculation, it's a ...list
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:43
okay, so is it something like a data entry thing?
User 31/05/2018 - 05:43
one sec
User 31/05/2018 - 05:43
sorry
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:44
Thats alright
User 31/05/2018 - 05:47
ok there is a sample
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:47
Okay i can see that
User 31/05/2018 - 05:47
so what I want is to show, how many ACT and DMV projects we have done to date
User 31/05/2018 - 05:47
when I use a pivot table, I feel I'm missing the formula or whatever to make the values
User 31/05/2018 - 05:48
reference # is unique
User 31/05/2018 - 05:49
I also what to show, say in status, there were some that are pending, a list where the pending ones are listed by division, but not with all the info like open and date and date entered
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:49
Okay, can just try to show me how you want to see this ?
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:49
Like on another sheet
User 31/05/2018 - 05:51
the format I have is not what I want .... imagine it was 2 separate piviot tables, like that. one with totals it 7 ACT and 10 DMV then another with Pending, or completed and details on the list
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:52
From which column we can get the
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:53
'' Pending, or complete"
User 31/05/2018 - 05:53
b
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:54
Okay, let me try that in pivot
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:57
can you see Sheet2 ?
User 31/05/2018 - 05:58
yes ok got that - can you show how many ACT are pending, completed, etc from column b
User 31/05/2018 - 05:58
I want to say 2 pending, or 5 completed, is there a way to do that
User 31/05/2018 - 05:58
by division
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:59
Yep, i think we can do that
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:59
Just give me a while
User 31/05/2018 - 05:59
ok thank you
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 05:59
Have a look now
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:00

User 31/05/2018 - 06:00

User 31/05/2018 - 06:00

Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:01

Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:01
Please do a valuable rating for me
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:01
that will help me a lot
User 31/05/2018 - 06:02
so, is there a way to ... condense the original list without simply deleting columns?
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:02
Please have a look
[Uploaded an Excel file]
User 31/05/2018 - 06:03
I would love to have it so that users can choose say ACT then all projects show in order of project status
User 31/05/2018 - 06:04
instead of looking at the whole file
User 31/05/2018 - 06:04
how did you get it to show "count status of project?"
User 31/05/2018 - 06:04
and how do I submit the rating
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:06
You can have that changed in clicking on the ''values field''
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:07
And the rating thing you will get the options after you click on End Session button
User 31/05/2018 - 06:07
ok
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:07
If you really like it then please put up some good words, in "Others" for me :)
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:08
Is there anything else you want to know regarding this issue?
User 31/05/2018 - 06:08
we still need to cover the second part of the report
User 31/05/2018 - 06:08
from the original list, can I create a table with just the values that I want?
Excelchat Expert 31/05/2018 - 06:09
Yes we can do that but I really apologize that we are not authorised to solve more than one problem per session
User 31/05/2018 - 06:09
