User 24/05/2018 - 12:30
am not able to upload it
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:31
Hello, I understand that you need help with your file to retrieve the several columns you mentioned.
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:31
Are you able to upload modified file so it can be smaller?
User 24/05/2018 - 12:31
i can give you a team viewer access if possible
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:31
I'm afraid that is not possible and is against policy.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:31
oh ok
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:32
You can just give me a sample file or create one using the document to the right.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:32
ok
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:32
But know that the solution I'll be giving you will not be as accurate as if I have the file.
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:32
Before we proceed, this is a reminder that our policy is 1 question per session so for this session we'll be resolving this particular question. We also currently do not support VBA/Macro solutions.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:34
i have 600,000 lines
User 24/05/2018 - 12:34
i need something that show me details of the reg mark i put
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:34
Okay, I can see what you've written.
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:34
Where will you get the information from?
User 24/05/2018 - 12:35
exported from sql server
User 24/05/2018 - 12:35
as csv
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:35
Are you able to save the CSV as an excel file so it can be accessed via formulas?
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:36
Because that's the only way we can do it.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:36
already saved as excel
User 24/05/2018 - 12:37
let say i want to seek these details for AS1234
User 24/05/2018 - 12:37
there are more column on that excel
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:37
I'm creating a sample for you but you will have to update it yourself since you are the only one with access to your file and its formatting.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:38
ok no prob
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:38
For example, if you'll look at the sheet I created called CSV
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:38
Do you see that?
User 24/05/2018 - 12:38
yes
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:38
For example, that is your CSV file that was saved and opened in Excel.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:38
ok
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:39
Now the first file, I called it Excel File, this where you type a Reg mark and the result is retrieved from the CSV sheet.
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:39
I'll write the formula now.
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:40
So I wrote a index/match formula in the Excel File. Now you can change the value of A2 and if it finds the Reg Mark from the CSV sheet, it will display the result.
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:40
Try changing the Reg Mark.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:41
but if i do it in the same excel
User 24/05/2018 - 12:41
can i?
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:41
What do you mean if you do it in the same Excel?
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:41
The sample I gave you is the same file.
User 24/05/2018 - 12:41
oh sorry
User 24/05/2018 - 12:41
i think i got it
User 24/05/2018 - 12:41
thank
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:41
Or do you mean that you just want to work on the actual CSV?
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:42
Then type a reg mark and the rest of the records are hidden?
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:45
Are you still with me?
Excelchat Expert 24/05/2018 - 12:48
