If I wanted to rank a set of values in different cells, all in the same column or all in the row from lowest to highest, without sorting, how would I do that? . e.g. Cell A2=14.3, A3=5.6, A4=8.9, A5=11.3, and A6=2.4 How could I put a ranking in column B to show that Cell A6 ranked 1st, A3 2nd, etc...?

In the formula the last entry, 0 or 1 is that what determines if it ranks lowest to highest and visa versa?
Excelchat Expert
15/05/2018 - 08:38
Yes exactly
Excelchat Expert
15/05/2018 - 08:39
That is why i showed you both the formula
User
15/05/2018 - 08:39
And in cell b4, that formula (B3, is that designating the first cell to start the ranking?
Excelchat Expert
15/05/2018 - 08:40
=RANK(B3,$B$3:$F$3,1)
Excelchat Expert

This finds the rank of B3, from range B3 to F3 in ascending order
User

What if the value in two or more of the cells is the same, what results do you get?
Excelchat Expert
15/05/2018 - 08:41
you can make the result same and then see
Excelchat Expert
15/05/2018 - 08:41
They will get same rank
User
15/05/2018 - 08:42
Ok, and it skips the ranking number, in this case #3 is not showing as there are two #2 rankings. That's perfect.
