Excel - IF Function Problem - Expert Solution

Question description:
This user has given permission to use the problem statement for this blog.

I work shift work as do about 100 other guys. All I want to do is type in the days date (Or just open the sheet and it will have the days date) and it has on there who is working that day/night. Pretty simple I would think...And if I change the date to, let's say, a month down the road, it pulls in the guys working that day... That all...Thx

Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:39
Ok. Thanks for letting me know the version.
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:40
As I understand that, you are looking for a solution where you are looking to pull the current day's the schedule from a monthly data.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:40
yes..
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:40
Ok. I am creating a simple data sheet, and then we will see how we can process it further.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:41
ok
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:43
So we have some sample data now.
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:43
Let's work on getting the schedule.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:43
ok
User 18/04/2018 - 12:46
are you waiting on me?
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:47
Sorry to keep you waiting. I am working out a formula for that.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:47
no problem
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:52
Please see the sheet1 now.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:52
yes
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:52
Is that what are you looking for?
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:53
Actual formulas are in column C and D.
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:53
To get a particular day's schedule, you can change the date in A1.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:53
yes other than i would show the name of that person and the shift they are on
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:54
Yes, it's just a sample data. You can expand it to any length you wish in data sheet. And update the formula here.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:54
its a 4wk rotatation
User 18/04/2018 - 12:54
ok....
User 18/04/2018 - 12:55
i have to actually copy the 4 week rotation multiple times then to reach any date in the future..?
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:55
If you are happy with the solution, I can explain this to you, and you can modify it for your use.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:56
ok
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:57
So this is an array formula with INDEX function as its core.
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:57
As you see, our 'Data' sheet has 11 rows of data.
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:57
i.e. from A1 to C11.
User 18/04/2018 - 12:58
yes a1 to c11
Excelchat Expert 18/04/2018 - 12:58
Now if your data says go to C200. You will need to change the formula accordingly.
