Can I use conditional formatting to turn cells with a formula in it a different color?

have you used formula based conditional formatting? ie. change the color of a cell based on a formula?

so select the cell(s) that you want to have highlighted if there is a formula in it

then conditional formatting > use formula to determine format

and in the formula... try =ISFORMULA(the cell)
