Question description:

Hello, I would like to have my graph automatically updated, but not to extend my graph. For instance, I have created a chart showing some data from 1 Jan to 31 Jan 2018. Now, I have to make charts every month, and I wonder if there is any way that the graph updates automatically without having to manually change the range of my chart.

Welcome, thank you for choosing Got It Pro-Excel! I'll be glad to assist you with your concern.

For the charts to automatically update, you have to use pivot table as the source data of your chart
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:30
with that, once you refresh your pivot table or change the month range, your Chart will also be updated with the new data

User 18/03/2018 - 10:34
okay
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:34
ok, I created a Pivot table on the next tab
User 18/03/2018 - 10:35
If i were to create monthly chart and to change it automatically. what should I do?
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:35
ok to do that we have to add another field first to get the month
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:36
from the dates
User 18/03/2018 - 10:36
ok
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:36
ok in column H, I created a formula to extract the month
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:36
=text(A2,"mmm")
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:36
then you need to create a pivot table
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:38
the pivot table would be the source of your chart
User 18/03/2018 - 10:38
okay
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:38
to do that, just highlight the pivot table, then insert chart
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:39
here's a sample chart
User 18/03/2018 - 10:39
yep
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:40
once you add data to your list, you just have to refresh the pivot chart
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:40
let me show you
User 18/03/2018 - 10:42
I would like my chart to show a daily flow
User 18/03/2018 - 10:42
not by monthly
User 18/03/2018 - 10:42
is it possible?
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:42
ok just change the month to days
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:42
yes
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:42
if you click on pivot table,
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:43
you can see pivot table editor at the left side, you can drag and drop the details you want to show there
Excelchat Expert 18/03/2018 - 10:45
I will show you a sample in excel as it is a bit different here in google sheet
User 18/03/2018 - 10:45
