Hi there, I understand that you need help with an IF() statement, right?
Excelchat Expert

The general syntax of an IF() statement is IF(logical_test, TRUE value, FALSE value)

So basically what you need is if(A1<1250,250,A1)

thanks, let me try that in my sheet qyuckly

This means that if the value of A1 is less than 1250 then the value where the formula is written will be 250, but if it is greater than 1250 then the value will be the same.

You can use the sample formula I have in cell B1 in our document preview.

I can see that you typed something in the document preview. How may I help you with that information?

hi there, so what I'm trying to establish is, if the value in cell b6 is less than 1250, then the cell in b7 auto corrects to 250, if it's more than 1250 then its a % of the same cell, does that make sense?

Okay, where do you want the output to be? The reason I'm asking is because you can't have a formula in the same cell where your values are.
Excelchat Expert

For instance, we can't write a formula in cell B6 anymore because it already has a value.

That's called a circular reference and will result in an error in Excel.
Excelchat Expert

We can, however, write that formula in C6.

Let me try something.

Now I have the correct formula in B7.
Excelchat Expert

You can try and change the value in B6 to see if it works.
