On Office 2016 for Mac, my Macro in Excel won't manage to open a new Word Document, even though the contents of the Macro appear to be ok. The command works until opening Word, but does not go past the initial screen.

I am attempting to link an Excel file to a Word letter document. The Excel file has much information, but I want to pull names and email addresses (dependent on the contents of a column) into the Word document at the bottom of a letter as 'ec's'. Mail Merge does not seem to work - it creates multiple Word sheets.
